Since 2018, the United Nations Secretary-General has launched an annual Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Campaign. The competition intends to draw local government, youth, civil society, creative non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to help accomplish the SGP.

The competition's major purpose in 2020 is to discover efforts to speed up the implementation of the SGP and to promote ideas and projects in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic in a spirit of global unity.

The extent of influence in the relevant field, the solution of obstacles, and the degree of novelty of the proposed strategy are all criteria used to evaluate the initiatives submitted in the competition.
